Oceanview 2002

Oceanview was the first club in Namibia, affiliated to the NGF (Namibia Gymnastics Federation) to request the Sports Council and the Federation to register as a business, but remaining affiliated with the Federation.

The gymnasts took part in the International Interclub Competition in Bellville, South Africa, and fared well.  Two junior gymnasts also took part in the Southern Zone 6 Championships between South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Namibia.

The Federation nominated an ex-National gymnast, Anel Botes, for a coaching scholarship.  The International Olympic Committee awarded the scholarship and from October to December 2002 Anel attended an International Coaching Course at the Simmelweiss University in Budapest, Hungary.  She obtained her certificate with highest excellence.
